Doli

Today was a sad one for the Fleury family. After almost 14 years little Doli had to be put to sleep. She was a much loved little pooch and will be missed. She did however have an eventful last week of her life. She traveled up to Bloomsburg to celebrate Becket's baptism over the weekend. She slept on many beds during her one night stay including with Mina, Cristina, Claire, and Luci. (It was only for a little while, then the little girls were sent back to their beds.) She had her haircut at the beauty parlor and left this world in style. She was a great friend and a blast from the very beginning. I remember when we got her as a tiny puppy that she was small enough to fit inside my lacrosse stick - it was crazy. Being in a house full of ladies, we did quickly learn to put away your clothes, well at least your bra. There were many days when Doli would coming running out a room with a bra streaming behind her - oops. She was an obedient dog. I took her to obedience classes which was a great time for the two of us to bond. She was the best in her class :) It makes me laugh when I remember Doli swimming at camp, how could she see with all that splash?! She was always confused about her size, keeping watch on the backyard, if she saw a deer - she run out there as fast as she could to clear her territory. After I had Claire we would always take pictures to show how much Claire had grown in comparison to Doli. They were such cute pictures. Doli was a gentle little pooch and will be greatly missed. Discussions today with Claire and Luci were a little challenging. Luci kept saying that Doli went to heaven. When asked if she will miss Doli playing with her koosh, Luci simply replied "She took her koosh with her to heaven." Luci was the most interested in talking and said that once you go to heaven, you don't come back.
Doli, thanks for the smiles, thanks for the long talks, thanks for doing a great job listening, thanks for wrestling, thanks for being you.

  3. Oh Fleury Family...Doli reformed me from a tried and true cat person into a cat person who happens to love one dog. I know you will miss her and as will I. I take comfort in knowing she is way too smart for doggy heaven and has found a comfortable place in people heaven keeping company with the kind souls of the world...but I'm sure in her new life she doesn't have to share her koosh with anyone.
